We are a husband and wife consultancy service for game reserves, hunting lodges and guesthouses, devised to help you improve your food service and kitchen efficiency. Southern Africa is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and an abundance of stunning game reserves. Fundi helps your establishment stand out from the herd by emphasizing hyper-local produce and great techniques. We tailor our approach to suit the unique preferences of your clients, ensuring an authentic and memorable experience that truly reflects the richness of the region.

With over 30 years of hospitality and culinary experience, we offer solutions, strategies  and systems that combine a common sense approach derived from Japanese engineering efficiency (Kaizen) within  the humanistic philosophy of Ubuntu. We deliver lasting change and real-world results for your establishment. A well run and successful kitchen is not about egos, but about working together harmoniously.

Our services

We've successfully owned and managed a fine dining restaurant and guest farm for many years. Our team leader, Carla, has extensive experience as a catering manager for private schools and has worked in prestigious game reserves both in South Africa and internationally. Fluent in German, she offers invaluable insights into the European tourist market. This rich background, combined with solid training from the South African College of Tourism, enables us to collaborate with you to transform your catering operation into a financial success and a workplace built on mutual respect.

Fundi began with a simple idea fuelled by a deep passion for culinary excellence and sustainable practices. With significant depth of experience in hospitality and restaurant ownership we are able to offer realistic and achievable food and beverage programmes for a wide variety of establishments. As a consultancy, we pride ourselves on personal attention and dedication to every detail. Our approach is rooted in quality and integrity, ensuring that everything we do reflects our commitment to excellence and authentic African hospitality.

Proven Results

1. We implemented a new 4-day menu cycle, including gluten-free, vegetarian, and children's options, along with a recipe handbook and 6 days of chef training.

How to begin your journey with Fundi 

After an initial email assessment, each project really begins with a site visit, as every business is unique, to assess the current state of operations, identify bottle necks and problem areas. We need to get a feel for the personality of the place and the people who work there, so that the solutions and systems are a tailored fit for your business. Fundi can then design rates and packages to suit you. We specialise in independently run guest houses and game lodges.
